Meeting High Expectations
Will not only has very high expectations of himself, but of his staff as well and he hires accordingly. The core team that handles the horse care at Gavilan Farm does so with the upmost attention to detail.
Nat V-C – Barn Manager
Friends with Will since 2002, Nat officially joined Gavilan Farm as barn manager in July of 2010. She has over 15 years of horse management and horse-care experience at the international level. Originally from Australia, Nat has also worked in the UK before coming to the US. She has worked for US Olympic rider Phillip Dutton as well as international eventer Jan Bynny. Prior to joining Gavilan Farm, Nat had worked at the last three World Championships.
No stranger to hard work and perfection, Nat is in her element at Gavilan Farm. She oversees and manages all the day-to-day horse care, and maintains the training operation while Will is away at shows.

Christina Curiale – Show Groom
Originally from British Columbia, Canada, Christina came to Gavilan Farm as a working student competing at the preliminary level. Will took note of her impressive work ethic and hired her in 2012 as his show groom. Christina travels with Will to all of his shows–both national and international–and has the charge of keeping his top-level competition horses in tip-top shape at each of his events.
Jay Mickle – Farrier
Jay and his son, Evan team up to shoe Will’s horses. They pay close attention to detail and are crucial team members.
Veterinarians
A very proactive team of vets that are a part of keeping the horses at Gavilan Farm in top shape
Working Students
Things to note if you are interested in becoming a working student: the job is tough, the day is long, the work is physically demanding, and communication, open-mindedness, and dedication is crucial. Gavilan Farm welcomes you to join their team if you feel up for the challenge!
Working students at Gavilan Farm are expected to give their all to the job. Taking initiative, being thoughtful and safe, staying one step ahead, and taking responsibility for the tasks at hand, are all key elements to fitting in at Team Gavilan. Whether it is scrubbing buckets, mucking stalls, or weeding the arena, we expect 110% of effort from you. Your hard work is rewarded with lessons from Will, quality care for your horse, priceless lessons on barn management, housing in the barn apartment, and a base board rate for your horse. Being a working student may be one of the harder things you’ll do in your life, but we are eager to share this experience with you if you are dedicated and determined to be a part of our team and have high hopes for a career in the equestrian world.
Requirements to apply include:
- High school diploma
- Drivers license and vehicle (horse trailer recommended, but not required)
